Acupuncture for Allergies & Respiratory Concerns

Breathing comfortably is something most of us take for granted, until it becomes difficult. My approach is to understand your individual symptoms, patterns and possible triggers.

What I Commonly Work With

  • Seasonal allergies
  • Hay fever
  • Nasal congestion
  • Sneezing and runny nose associated with allergies
  • Sinus-related discomfort
  • Certain recurring respiratory complaints
  • Respiratory symptoms associated with seasonal changes
  • Allergy-related headaches or fatigue

Understanding Your Individual Symptoms

Allergy and respiratory symptoms can affect people very differently.

Looking at the Broader Picture

Allergy and respiratory symptoms don't always occur in isolation, you may also experience fatigue, headaches, poor sleep, digestive symptoms or stress.

The Traditional Chinese Medicine Perspective

Traditional Chinese Medicine has a long history of addressing respiratory and allergy-related complaints according to the individual's overall pattern.

What Might Treatment Involve?

Acupuncture is the foundation of my treatment. I also have experience providing complementary acupuncture care for people with respiratory conditions such as asthma, acupuncture should not replace prescribed asthma medication or other necessary medical treatment.

How Many Treatments Might I Need?

There is no standard number of treatments. Your treatment plan depends on the nature and duration of your symptoms, whether they are seasonal or recurring, and how you respond to care.

When Should Respiratory Symptoms Be Medically Evaluated?

Seek urgent medical attention if you experience significant difficulty breathing, severe or rapidly worsening shortness of breath, chest pain or pressure, blue or grey lips or skin, confusion, fainting or severe weakness, a severe asthma attack, or any respiratory symptoms that feel immediately dangerous. If you have asthma or another diagnosed respiratory condition, continue your prescribed treatment and keep any necessary rescue medication available. Acupuncture should complement, not replace, appropriate medical and respiratory care.

Could Acupuncture Be Appropriate for Your Allergies or Respiratory Symptoms?

If allergies or respiratory symptoms are affecting your sleep, energy, concentration or everyday life, acupuncture may be worth exploring as part of your overall approach to care. You're also welcome to contact Richard directly.
